Coffee¡¯s Anti-Diabetes Mechanism Revealed
Previous studies have shown a beneficial effect of coffee consumption to reduce an individual¡¯s risk of type-2 diabetes. Christian Herder, Heinrich Heine University Dusseldorf (Germany), and colleagues investigated the effects of daily coffee consumption on biomarkers of coffee intake, subclinical inflammation, oxidative stress, glucose, and lipid metabolism.
selenium Diabetes
Selenium May Protect Against Diabetes
Selenium is an essential trace element which is necessary for growth and protein synthesis, and previous studies have suggested a preventative role of selenium on the risk of diabetes. Tasnime Akbaraly, from the University of Montpellier (France), and colleagues studied 1,162 French adults enrolled in the Epidemiology of Vascular Ageing study, assessing selenium levels and monitoring for blood-sugar imbalances (dysglycemia), for nine years.

Antioxidant Cardio-Vascular
A Simple Antioxidant Boost for Foods
Studies have shown that foods rich in antioxidants serve an essential role in preventing cardiovascular diseases, cancers, neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer¡¯s and Parkinson¡¯s, and disorders relating to inflammation. In that herbs and spices are excellent sources of antioxidants, Raymond Thomas, from The University of Western Ontario (Canada), and colleagues reveals that marinating meats in preparations that include ingredients such as hot peppers, allspice, sesame and ginger, is a simple and effective way to introduce antioxidants into meals.
Chocolate Blood Pressure
Chocolate Slashes Blood Pressure
Flavanols are a type of antioxidant compound found in high concentrations in dark chocolate. Brian Buijsse, from the German Institute of Human Nutrition (Nuthetal, Germany), and colleagues studied 19,357 people, ages 35 to 65 years, enrolled in the Potsdam arm of the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer (EPIC) study.

Rosenberg Video
Cancer: Non-Toxic Therapies,
by Dr. Mark Rosenberg, MD
Nearly half of all patients will get cancer during their lifetime, yet more than 50% of these cases can be prevented. Traditional cancer treatment is efficacious for early stage cancers, yet an overall survival benefit of less than 5% has been achieved in the adjuvant treatment of breast, colon, and head and neck cancers.
The Fellowship in Integrative Cancer Therapy, presented by Mark Rosenberg, MD, offers safe and effective protocols engaging off-label pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, vaccines and other types of immunotherapy, novel drugs/substances not yet approved in the U.S., dietary treatments, mind-body techniques, hyperthermia, homeopathy, in addition to traditional therapy.
April is "National Cancer Control Month" (designated as such by the American Cancer Society). All healthcare practitioners, regardless of specialty, are invited to learn the latest medical protocols in early detection, proactive prevention, and integrative treatment, at The Fellowship in Integrative Cancer Therapy. Like it or not, sometime in the near future you will see a cancer patient or family member with cancer and want to learn the best way how to treat them.
Register for The Fellowship in Integrative Cancer Therapy, which convenes its third meeting May 20-23rd.
Sun Bathing Cancer
Non-Melanoma Skin Cancers to Reach Epidemic Proportions
The steady rise in the incidence of non-melanoma skin cancer sets the stage for an epidemic, as sunbathers of the Baby Boomer demographic, age. Howard W. Rogers, a dermatologist in Connecticut (USA), and colleagues, analyzed data from two Medicare databases and national surveys. The team found the total number of procedures to treat skin cancer in the Medicare population increased by nearly 77% between 1992 and 2006, with a 16% rise in the years 2002 to 2006 alone.
