전 세계 1700만 명 이상이 앓고 있지만 확실한 치료법이 없다는 만성피로. 만성피로환자에게 귀가 솔깃할만한 피로 해소 방법이 연구결과로 나왔다. 만성피로에는 밖에 나가 운동하는 것이 가장 큰 치료법이라는 것. 영국 킹스 컬리지런던 트루디 첼더 박사팀이 만성피로환자 640명을 대상으로 운동을 시키면서 결과를 관찰했다. 그 결과, 운동을 한 환자 60% 이상이 만성피로증상이 개선된 것으로 나타났고 환자의 30%는 일반인 수준으로 신체기능이 변화했다. 반면에 기존 생활 방식을 바꾸지 않은 환자는 만성피로가 계속됐다. 트루디 첼더 박사는 "만성피로를 앓는 사람일수록 집에서 쉬려 하지 말고 운동하는 것이 좋다"며 "운동량과 운동강도를 꾸준히 늘리는 운동요법은 힘들지 않을 정도로 운동하는 방법보다 훨씬 효과적"이라고 말했다. 평소 간단한 스트레칭이나 걷기, 자전거타기, 수영 등과 같은 유산소 운동을 꾸준히 하면 피로 예방하는데 효과적이다.이 연구결과는 '란셋(Lancet)'에 게재됐으며 영국 일간지 온라인 판 데일리메일 등이 최근 보도했다.
